Senate kicks off Christmas season: Christmas colors lit the Senate of the Philippines' building in Pasay City as the upper chamber marked the beginning of the Yuletide season on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada and Senate Spouses Foundation Inc. (SSFI) president Ms. Heart Evangelista-Escudero led the annual Christmas Lighting Ceremony, bringing together senators, SSFI members, Senate officials and employees.

"Tonight is not just about tradition for the Senate community but rather a great way for this community to bring itself together and celebrate the spirit of Christmas," Evangelista-Escudero said.

Estrada said the Christmas lights symbolize hope for Filipinos displaced by recent typhoons.

"As we embrace the holiday spirit and celebrate the season of giving, let us take a moment to stand with our fellow Filipinos during these challenging times," Estrada said. (Joseph B. Vidal/OSP/Voltaire F. Domingo/Senate Social Media Unit)
