Senator Imee R. Marcos Statement on the appeal to PBBM to junk bill seeking to extend Barangay, SK officials' terms

The bill is vastly different from Republic Act No. 11935. While R.A. 11935 had no purpose other than to simply extend pro hac vice the tenure in office of barangay officials elected in 2018, Senate Bill No. 2816 sets the term of Barangay and SK officials once and for all.

The postponement of the 2025 BSKE is merely incidental. I thus appeal to the President to sign the bill as soon as possible so that COMELEC can focus on preparing for the BARMM elections in October.
