STATEMENT OF SEN. WIN GATCHALIAN ON THE COMMEMORATION OF PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE

The 127th commemoration of the Philippine Independence Day today is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made for our sovereignty and the enduring spirit of the Filipino people.

However, true independence will remain elusive for as long as many of our fellow citizens grapple with the chains of indigence, joblessness, and learning deprivation. Bilang isang bansa, kailangan nating italaga ang ating mga sarili sa pagsugpo sa mga hamong ito upang matamo ang mas makabuluhang kalayaan para sa bawat Pilipino at mas maunlad na buhay para sa mga susunod na henerasyon.

STATEMENT OF SEN. WIN GATCHALIAN ON THE PROVISION OF MEDICAL ALLOWANCE TO PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS, NON-TEACHING STAFF

The provision of medical allowance worth P7,000 to qualified public school teachers and non-teaching staff is a way to uphold their welfare, especially now as we look forward to the opening of classes. Mahalaga ito upang maitaguyod ang kapakanan ng ating mga guro at mapanatili nating mataas ang kanilang morale.

Moving forward, I will continue working with the Department of Education and other stakeholders to ensure that we can guarantee and expand these health care benefits, which I proposed in the Revised Magna Carta for Public School Teachers.
