Brigada Eskwela's focus on reading this year highlights the urgency of boosting literacy among our learners. As we kick off this year's Brigada Eskwela, let me reiterate my proposals on how we can boost literacy.

First, is the implementation of the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program. Second, is the mobilization of our local government units and the creation of local literacy councils. Another is the aggressive implementation of the Alternative Learning System. Ang layunin natin: bawat batang Pilipino, saan mang panig ng bansa, ay matutong bumasa at magkaroon ng akses sa dekalidad na edukasyon.

STATEMENT OF SEN. WIN GATCHALIAN ON ALLEGATIONS OF CORRUPTION VS. A HIGH RANKING BI OFFICIAL

Allegations that a high-ranking BI official is involved in irregularities relating to deportation of POGO workers demand an immediate and thorough investigation. The accusations mirror claims made by confidential informants and human trafficking victims who have detailed a pattern of irregularities at the BI. I will soon be filing a resolution to unravel such anomalies.

Kung nagkasala sa batas at tumiwalag sa opisyal na tungkulin, kailangang panagutin. Hindi natin maaaring hayaang makompromiso ang sistema ng ating imigrasyon, lalo na kung nakasalalay ang proteksyon ng ating mga kababayan at pambansang seguridad.
