Press Release May 30, 2025 Jinggoy seeks commendation for Alexie Mae Caimoso Brooks for bringing home the Miss Eco International 2025 crown SENATE President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada has filed a resolution seeking to commend and congratulate Alexie Mae Caimoso Brooks for winning the Miss Eco International 2025 crown in Alexandria, Egypt last April 20. "Her achievement not only brings prestige and honor to the country, but also sheds light on pressing environmental issues and motivates us to act decisively and collectively in addressing these concerns," Estrada said. "Brooks embodies courage, grit, and resilience, having overcome numerous life adversities, including bullying and discrimination. She now stands as an empowered Filipina, capable of leading and inspiring the younger generation," he also said. Under Senate Resolution No. 1341, Estrada noted that Brooks was a clear frontrunner among around 40 delegates throughout the preliminary rounds, consistently placing in the top five in the People's Choice segment. She entered the top six in the Eco Wear event with her West Philippine Sea-inspired dress, ranked 10th in the Resort Wear competition, and won first runner-up in the Talent Contest. She also bagged the National Costume Award with an ensemble inspired by the Philippine Eagle. The 24-year-old athlete and model, born in Lebanon to an American father and a Filipina mother and raised in Leon, Iloilo by her grandmother, was appointed by the Miss Universe Philippines Organization in May 2024 as Miss Eco International Philippines to represent the country in the international pageant. She won the 10th edition of Miss Eco International during the coronation night held at the Hilton Green Plaza in Alexandria, Egypt on April 20, becoming the third Filipina to secure the crown, following Cynthia Tomalla in 2018 and Kathleen Paton in 2022. "Brooks successfully represented the Philippines, showcased our rich culture and biodiversity on the international stage, and demonstrated the beauty, eloquence, grace, and wit of the Filipino -- hence, she is truly deserving of commendation from the Senate," Estrada said. |
